Using the bowie knife as a starting point, the Orbis series is designed to be used hard. The selectively hardened toolsteel blade combines the hardness you need for cutting and the flexibility for strength. The forged half integral construction is unbeatable in terms of strength. The blade is one piece of forged steel with an extremely thick tang, which is made possible because of the half integral construction. By peening the tang, the hardened pommel, Micarta grip and blade are compressed creating a solid whole. The hardened pommel can be used for hammering, crushing etc. A 6mm lanyard hole is placed in front of the grip for extra safety. To protect the 1.2510 tool steel from the environment, the blade and pommel are coated with a Cera Kote coating. To create a very positive grip, the handle is made out of a blasted micarta block.
First models planned for January 2011
